The Arable category of the Guild’s Photography Awards is now open for entries from Members who are either full-time professional photographers or who take photographs as part of their work.

This award is generously sponsored by FMC, with £500 to the winner and £250 to the runner-up, so look through the archives to find your best shots from past 12 months.

Members can submit one entry each. The photo must have been published in print or online in the 12 months from 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018.

Entries will be judged by an expert panel agreed by the Guild and the Arable category winners will be revealed at the Guild’s Bangers’n’Beer reception on the first evening of this year’s Cereals event, held on 13-14 June at Chrishall Grange, near Duxford, Cambridgeshire.

Email your entry to Jamie Day by 1 June with the following information:

  • Entrant’s name and telephone number
  • Where and when the image was published
  • A title or description of the content

All entries will be displayed – anonymously prior to judging – on the Guild’s website.

Last year’s winner was John Eveson for his photo “Testing a Kverneland Plough”, pictured above and published in Farmers Guardian in December 2016.

The judges commented: “This shot has great composition – the combination of colours and the balance of elements makes for a striking and attention-grabbing image, which transforms an otherwise everyday activity and sight into something with a great deal more appeal.”
