Future Farming Fundamentals

Overbury Village Hall
GL20 7NR

Wednesday 27 April 2016
1745hrs for 1800hrs

A panel debate with

  • Quentin Clark, LEAF
  • Alistair Driver, Farmers Guardian
  • Jake Freestone, Overbury Farms’ manager
  • Martin Grantley-Smith, AHDB

A BGAJ Midlands branch event chaired by Charlotte Johnston, of the National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs AGRI steering group.

You are invited to attend the above event and challenge our panellists who will be channelling some real future fundamentals for farming businesses. Find out their opinions on

  • developing strategies to ride out volatile markets
  • unravelling the Brexit uncertainties
  • maintaining resilience
  • staying sustainable

Our host, Overbury Farms’ Jake Freestone, will kick start the debate discussing his own farming operation as a case study.

The unit which is part of the 1,538ha estate and includes Bredon Hill, has been in the same family ownership for over 250 years yet continues to be at the forefront of thinking and adoption of technologies and systems.

Jake will describe the systems that the unit – one of 36 LEAF demonstration farms, has been adopting, combining precision farming techniques with enhanced environmental considerations to maintain biodiversity.

Members of the local Rural Hub, LEAF, AHDB, the Wildlife Trusts and other invitees with an interest in these concerns will join in with the panel to debate the actions that can be taken now to prepare for the potential eventualities.

Light refreshments; £10 contribution towards expenses.

We look forward to seeing you there. Please would you confirm your attendance by emailing by Friday 22 April.

Many thanks and kind regards
