2016 Harvest Service & Luncheon

WHEN: 23 September 2016, 10.45 at the church and 12 noon at Painters' Hall

WHERE: St Bride's Church, Fleet Street, & Painters' Hall, Trinity Lane, London, EC4V 2AD

WHAT: Church service, sparkling wine reception and three-course meal

WHO: Guild Members, Friends and Guests

The British Guild of Agricultural Journalists’ flagship Harvest Luncheon will, for the first time, be hosted during September (23rd), to coincide with British Food Fortnight.

Following tradition, a church service at St Bride’s in Fleet Street will be followed by a reception and three-course dinner. In a change to recent years, the prestigious Painters’ Hall will serve as a lunch venue fitting for the occasion.

The Guild is delighted to welcome food supply chain group ABP as this year’s major sponsor, financially and also in-kind – the lamb served at the lunch will be supplied by ABP itself.

Agrochemical distribution firm HL Hutchinson is generously sponsoring the table wine, while animal nutrition business Alltech has kindly taken on Keenan’s involvement with the reception (and the Keenan Alltech Innovation Award, which will be presented during the lunch).

Fertiliser manufacturer Yara, which will be presenting its annual Awards at the luncheon, continues to sponsor the choir and music during the service at St Bride’s.

The Guild will use the occasion to announce the winner of the 2016 Netherthorpe Award and the new Red Tractor Assurance Public Engagement Award.

This year’s guest speaker will be ABP's UK commercial director Darren Jones, a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Butchers. He promises to provide an interesting insight into the growing influence of consumer trends on the UK livestock industry, as well as product innovation by retailers and processors in the red meat sector - of interest to guests and members alike.

“The 2016 Harvest Lunch is set to be a harvest celebration, a networking opportunity and a chance to indulge in some of the finest British produce,” says Guild chairman Ben Briggs.

“It is also an opportunity to support the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists' Charitable Trust annual raffle to help raise funds for agricultural journalists who, through illness, redundancy and a variety of other reasons may find themselves in need of short-term financial assistance.”

Harvest Luncheon tickets are now on-sale on a first-come, first-served basis through Guild secretary Nikki Robertson. Please contact Nikki (gajsec@gmail.com) to reserve your place.

Thanks to the very generous support from our 2016 sponsors, we have been able to set extremely attractive ticket prices for this year’s event: Tickets for BGAJ Members and Friends are priced at £49.50, and at £69.50 for non-members.
