Harvest Service and Lunch

Held each autumn, the Guild's Harvest Service is a traditional celebration taking place at 'the journalists church' of St Bride's in Fleet Street and praised as an enjoyable occasion by all who attend.

Magnificent singing is a highlight - not so much from the congregation, necessarily, but certainly from the St Bride's choir during hymns and special musical renditions.

The Harvest Lunch that follows has been held in past years at the world-famous restaurant Simpsons in the Strand and the Charing Cross Hotel. In 2011, it moved to the livery halls of the Stationer's Guild for the first time and members welcomed the Princess Royal as their special guest to help celebrate the best of British food and drink.

The 2017 Guild Harvest Service will take place at 10.45am on Thursday, 12 October, at St Brides Church, Fleet Street, London.

After a brisk walk, a drinks reception will welcome members and guests to Painters' Hall, 9 Little Trinity Lane, London EC4V 2AD followed by a Taste of Britain lunch and Guild award presentations - to purchase tickets click here.

Generous sponsorship ensures that Guild members enjoy ticket prices significantly below cost. Members can book individually or organise groups of friends, colleagues and guests on the communal tables.

BGAJ Harvest

Good wine, good food, good company - what more could we ask from the annual lunch to follow a spirit-uplifting service at St Bride's Church to celebrate harvest?

Members and Friends of the Guild, together with their guests, enjoyed another wonderful Harvest thanksgiving service at St Brides Church, Fleet Street before heading the splendour of Stationers' Hall nearby for a drinks reception and 'Best of British' luncheon.

With Robbie Williams' Angels giving a contemporary twist to an otherwise traditional thanksgiving celebration and rose veal on the lunch menu enjoyed by guest speaker Adam Henson, the Guild's 2012 Harvest Service and Lunch was a modernised and hugely enjoyable event for the 200 members and guests who attended.

A professional choir and probably the largest congregation ever packed St Brides Church for the Guild's 2011 Harvest Service.

An all-time record attendance of 143 members and guests enjoyed the Guild’s Harvest Lunch at a new venue, the Thistle Charing Cross Hotel, following the traditional Harvest Service at St Bride’s Church.

This year’s church service was sponsored by Howard Venters of Shepherd Publishing, publisher to the National Sheep Association and National Beef Association.
