The Guild's Harvest Service in October is a traditional celebration held at 'the journalists church' of St Brides in Fleet Street and praised as an enjoyable occasion by all who attend.

Magnificent singing is a highlight - not so much from the congregation, necessarily, but certainly from the St Brides choir during hymns and special musical renditions. The service is generously sponsored by Guild member Howard Venters of Shepherd Publishing.

The Harvest Lunch that follows has been held in past years at the world-famous restaurant Simpsons in the Strand and the Charing Cross Hotel. In 2011, it moved to the livery halls of the Stationer's Guild for the first time and members welcomed the Princess Royal as their special guest to help celebrate the best of British food and drink.

The Guild's Yara Journalism Awards and fund-raising activities for the Charitable Trust are also part of this popular event.

Lunch follows a drinks reception and generous sponsorship ensures that Guild members enjoy ticket prices significantly below cost. Members can book individually or organise groups of friends, colleagues and guests on the communal tables.

A booking form for the 2012 event will be available in August.
