Caroline Stocks takes up freelance role

Published on 22nd October 2011

Caroline StocksAfter five years on Farmers Weekly, Guild member Caroline Stocks is pursuing a freelance career from her new home in Derbyshire.

“I joined Farmers Weekly in 2006 as business reporter,” Caroline recalls. “I came from UBM where I was a graduate trainee working on Farmers Guardian, as well as some property and health care titles.”

In 2008, she was promoted to deputy news editor, producing and editing news content for Farmers Weekly and the FWi website.

“I helped lead FW's 'web-first' strategy by breaking news online, championing the use of social media and producing videos,” says Caroline. “During my time on the news desk, I developed a specialism in UK and European agri-politics.”

Having taken time out to complete a Nuffield Farming Scholarship investigating effective ways of communicating with farmers (see separate News story), Caroline moved to Ilkeston, Derbyshire to focus on freelance work as an agricultural reporter and PR communicator.

Caroline adds: “In addition to writing for Farmers Weekly as midlands correspondent, I also have a part-time contract as communications director for the British Society of Animal Science.”

Caroline can be contacted on 07792 726487 or through her new email address.
