Published on 15th February 2011

Guild member Eddie Gillanders has retired as editor of the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society’s magazine, The Aberdeen-Angus Review, after 44 years in the chair.

In recognition of this long-standing service, Eddie was presented with an oil painting of Rannoch Moor at the society’s annual dinner, where he was accompanied by his wife Marion and eldest son Neil. He is pictured third from left in a photograph supplied by fellow Guild member Louis T Flood receiving the gift from former society president Paul Jeenes.

Eddie continues to publish his own monthly magazine, Farm North-East, which covers news and views pertaining to the farming scene in north-east Scotland.

Chrissie LawrenceThe Review editor’s reins have been handed to Guild member Chrissie Lawrence of the mooandbaa.com agency. She already handles the society’s marketing activities and website, and her appointment comes at the same time as a fresh look for the Aberdeen-Angus magazine has been introduced.

“It will remain similar to previous editions in being jam packed with shows and sales coverage, features, updates on the Youth Development Programme and all-important breeder and industry advertisements,” says Chrissie. “But all advertising is being placed from the middle through to the back of the publication, with all editorial content at the front.”

The fresh appearance of the Review is designed to tie in with other new marketing material developed by the society for the breed.
