Entries invited for new ABN Innovation Award

Published on 16th February 2010

Guild members up to the age of 35 with an interest in food marketing can take part in a new competition with a first prize of £1,000.

Sponsored by pig and poultry compound feed manufacturer ABN, the new award, which will be presented at the Pig & Poultry Fair, is seeking innovative and creative concepts for marketing British pig or poultry food products to the UK consumer.

The key challenge for the sector is to proactively engage consumers in a way that effectively drives both increased understanding and purchasing of British produce. Entrants can select freely from pig meat, poultry meat or egg product groups and may present a concept for an individual product, a number of products or a complete product group.

The competition closing date is April 9

The ABN Innovation Award is open to anyone less than 35-years old including those who currently work within the sector, undergraduates and professionals outside the industry.

“The award provides a new and unique opportunity for young people to put forward an exciting and innovative marketing concept for British pig or poultry food products,” ABN’s commercial services director, Angela Booth, said. “It’s a great opportunity for the next generation to put forward their ideas and take part in this prestigious national award.

“We are looking for fresh ideas that could add value to our industry. The award is open to anyone with an exciting idea for marketing British pig or poultry food products to consumers and strengthening our industry.”

Entrants must submit an innovative and creative concept, in any format receivable by post or email, by Friday, April 9, 2010. Entries will be reviewed by a judging panel and successful finalists will be invited to attend the Pig & Poultry Fair in May to present their concept to a panel of judges.

All finalists will attend the ABN industry dinner at the fair on May 11 this year, and the winner will be announced the following day.
