EU press trips to France and Denmark

Published on 26th January 2012

Following a meeting of the new European Network of Agricultural Journalists (ENAJ) at Green Week in Berlin, Guild chairman Adrian Bell has details of two ‘facility trips’.

The first is being organised by the European Commission's agriculture directorate, which supports the formation and development of the network.

It’s on February 28 and March 1 to the Haut-Jura in eastern France to look at alpine farming and visit producers of Comté cheese. A Commission spokesman will accompany the press trip to answer questions related to CAP reform. Preference is being given to journalists from mountainous countries – but British Guild members are welcome to apply nonetheless by sending a message expressing interest to the organiser's email.

ENAJThe ENAJ is organising a press trip to Denmark on June 4 to coincide with the farm ministers’ summit during the Danish presidency. Two members from each European Guild will be invited to attend.

“It’s not clear to what extent costs will be covered; we’ll provide more details later,” says Adrian. “But, in the meantime, Guild members interested in participating can at least make a note of the date.”

Thanks to the efforts of the German Guild’s ENAJ representative, Adrian visited Green Week, which is billed as the world's biggest fair for food, agriculture and horticulture, as a guest of the Federal Foreign Office, which took care of much of the costs involved.
