FG and FW go digital on the move

Published on 31st May 2013

FG appA new app that enables Farmers Guardian readers to download and read the paper on an iPhone or iPad will also give them a head-start with the news and other content - it will be available from 5pm on a Thursday evening, before the print edition is out on Friday.

The app, which will feature all of the news and features in the print version, will also include the Farmers Guardian classified advertising section.

“This new development is a fantastic opportunity for Farmers Guardian," says editor Emma Penny, a member of the Guild. "It means farmers and others in the agricultural industry will be able to access Farmers Guardian on their iPad or iPhone, wherever they are in the UK or throughout the world.”

It costs £2.49 to download a single issue, but readers signing up for multiple issues will receive it at a lower price. Current or new subscribers who become part of Farmers Guardian’s new VIP membership, can receive both the print and the app versions, as well as a host of other benefits, for £99 a year.

The new app can be downloaded here.

Farmers Weekly on iPadReed Business Publishing is also advancing digital technology in agriculture by making Farmers Weekly available on the Apple iPad on a Thursday, a day earlier than the print version.

"The tablet edition combines the magazine that readers know and love but with the advantage of links to video and further sources of information," says Farmers Weekly editor and Guild member Jane King. "We know that many readers already share their copies of the magazine with other family members, so choosing a subscription that includes both the print and tablet version of Farmers Weekly makes this even easier."

The tablet version is said to be easy to navigate and allows readers to go straight to different sections, to bookmark favourites and create a library of back issues.
It has links to related content and videos on fwi.co.uk and to suppliers' websites.

Readers can subscribe to the tablet version alone (available from the Apple app store) or take a combined print and tablet subscription.
