The Guild was represented by members Howard Venters (deputy chairman, below) and Geoff Dodgson at the Queen’s Chapel of the Savoy to celebrate a Harvest Service in support of the Addington Fund.
The charity provides emergency aid and housing for farmers who have to leave their farm and cannot find anywhere suitable to live.
Geoff Dodgson, as Reader in the Diocese of Ely, conducted prayers as part of the clergy, and Readings were shared by Richard Excell, Master of the Worshipful Company of Woolmen and Tim Ashton, representing the Farmers Club Under 30s.
The Addington Fund celebrates its fourteenth year having been established to help farmers cope with the devastating consequences of Foot & Mouth disease in 2001.
A forage fund set up last year to help alleviate problems arising from the Somerset Levels flooding is still providing assistance, says Ian Bell, Fund Director.
A recent meeting identified the need for another 87 loads of fodder and straw, so the fund feels an obligation to continue supporting the fodder bank until next spring. The charity is grateful to the farming publications and other media that support and promote the important work of the Addington Fund
