Guild member Jim Kettle has died at the age of 77. He was known to many as the efficient and affable press officer for feed manufacturer BOCM.

“Like many of us, he served his journalistic apprenticeship with the provincial press before specialising in farming topics,” recalls former colleague, Peter Ryder. “Turning to PR, he was one of the triumvirate which ran the BOCM press organisation alongside Paul Ivall and me before taking on the whole responsibility when BOCM merged with Silcocks.”

Jim was a talented photographer; his pictures featured in many publications inside and outside agriculture, and he was universally popular, a real ‘pressman’s PRO’.

He is survived by his daughter, Danae, and his beloved granddaughter, Cicely. His wife, June, passed away several years ago.

Donations in his memory can be sent to The Cystic Fibrosis Trust, c/o Richard Steel & Partners Ltd, Alderman House, 12-14 City Road, Winchester, Hants SO23 8SD.
