Guild member Julian Gairdner is leaving Farmers Weekly in early April to take up a new position as Head of Digital with New Zealand rural publisher NZX-Agri. The company publishes New Zealand Farmers Weekly and a number of other titles and market information products.

“It’s a big move and a wonderful opportunity,” says Julian. “I have been incredibly lucky to work with the best publication and best team in the UK farming press for nearly 11 years and I will miss them all. But New Zealand is an amazing country, which I already know well as I have relatives there.”

Julian started his journalism career on Crops magazine before joining the Farmers Weekly arable team. He then progressed to become online editor and leaves Reed Business Information as digital director, having overseen development of the FWi website and launching the Power Farming machinery website last year.

“I now have the chance to work with another great business with very similar ambitions, and to give the family a rich life experience in New Zealand,” says Julian. “Guild visitors will of course be very welcome!”

NZX-Agri is based in Feilding about two hours north of Wellington.
