Lincs farming book from Alan Stennett

Published on 22nd October 2011

Alan StennettWriter and broadcaster Alan Stennett has published his fifth book: Images of Lincolnshire Farming contains more than 130 images gathered from the many farming communities in the county.

“It looks at how the people of Lincolnshire have met challenges and opportunities presented by the ever-changing face of agriculture in the county,” says Alan. “I hope Guild members and others will enjoy reading this collection of stories and seeing the images, which form a memorable record of Lincolnshire's landscape and the people who have made their living from it.”

Published by Countryside Books, Images of Lincolnshire Farming is an A5 softcover with 144 pages priced at £14.95 or £11.96 when ordered online from the publisher's website.

Images Lincs FarmingThe new book follows previous agricultural titles, Memories of Lincolnshire Farming, which relates the changes in farming in the county during the 20th century through the recollections of farmers and farm workers, and The South Lincolnshire Fens, a compilation with a local artist of thirty paintings of the Fens and the fenland towns and villages.

“My contributions cover the history, culture and business of the area – the principle one of which is farming and food processing," says Alan, who has also written Nobbut a Yellerbelly, about the Lincolnshire dialect, and Lost Railways of Lincolnshire, which records closed railway lines in the county.
