Former Farmers Guardian editor and more recently NFU communications director, Guild member Liz Falkingham, has set up a new business, Chestnutmare Media, offering freelance journalism and media consultancy from her East Yorkshire home.

Liz, who married in April, specialises in agricultural, rural and equestrian issues and writes across the spectrum from technical content to news analysis and general features.

“My time with Farmers Guardian and the NFU gave me the best possible grounding for understanding both the media and the agricultural industry,” she says. “That, combined with my own personal equestrian and rural interests, means I can offer publications content encompassing a wide brief and to the highest editorial standards.”

Liz is currently writing for Country Living, Countryside and Horse & Hound, as well as the farming and general regional press, and is keen to expand her portfolio to include women’s lifestyle magazines and the national press. She is also handling PR and consultancy work for a small number of clients.

“It’s a busy but exciting time for me because as well as building my freelance activities, I’m also working with my husband Paul to diversify the farm business,” she adds. “It’s very different to life as a manager in an office – but I’m loving every minute of it!”

Liz can be contacted at Chestnutmare Media, Wold Farm, Driffield YO25 3BB. Tel: 01377 252321 / 0777 553 5069 Email.
