Jill Willows has become a Friend of the Guild after a long association with the agricultural industry in different roles.

The Nuffield Scholar ran a 550 acre mixed family farm until eight years ago when it was sold, and she has remained connected with agriculture ever since.

Having originally graduated from Newcastle University with a Bsc Hons in agricultural marketing, Jill went on to work for RHM Agriculture and the Higgins potato merchanting group.

An enjoyable stint there came to an end when family ties brought her back to the farm in 1980.

Jill is now a Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Society, a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Farmers and is a trustee of Harper Adams’ development trust.

“I chaired the 1997 Oxford Farming Conference, spent many years on committee of The Farmers Club and enjoyed a spell on the rural affairs and agricultural advisory committee,” she adds.

A keen horse enthusiast and walker, she remains committed to the future of farming by sponsoring young people in agriculture through the Nuffield organisation.
