New media training service

Published on 24th October 2011

Liz FalkinghamPast experience of the benefits of media training has prompted Guild member Liz Falkingham (right) of freelance journalism and PR business Chestnutmare Media to offer a service in this aspect of communications.

The former Farmers Guardian editor, who works on an informal basis with senior PR Guild member Doreen Forsyth, says there is growing interest from companies in agriculture, equestrianism and the wider rural market to ensure they are fully equipped to deal with the media.

"During my time as NFU director of communications, I was very much involved in media training and saw first-hand the real benefits it provides for personnel at all levels, who need to learn how to respond to and deal with the media effectively,” says Liz. “Whether learning how to spot potential stories for the press, putting together relevant press releases or knowing how to cope with TV and radio interviews, every company can benefit from media training.”

Chestnutmare Media offers half- or full-day training sessions, which are fully tailored to each company's or organisation's needs, she adds.

“Feedback from our clients is very positive, and the training is something Doreen and I really enjoy doing," says Liz, who can be contacted by email.
