Adam Don has joined the Guild following his appointment as an account executive at Whisper pr in 2011.

“I am thoroughly enjoying the several accounts that I am involved with and the variety of work that’s entailed,” he says. “To be able to work within the agricultural sector is a real privilege; I was brought up in Herefordshire, so have always been surrounded by food and farming – it’s  fair to say they are my passion.”

Having gained a BA (Hons) in Architecture from Manchester University, Adam decided to pursue his real interest and studied agriculture as a post graduate at the Royal Agricultural College.

“From here I worked for the fast growing, Herefordshire-based spirits company Chase Distillery, run by the potato grower behind Tyrrell’s crisps, and gained valuable experience in the marketing department,” he says. “I was able to put my architecture degree to good use, becoming responsible for the design and development of all marketing material.”

During his time at the drinks company, Chase launched several new products and Adam witnessed the business grow substantially: “But it was the company’s link to agriculture that interested me,” he says, “and my desire to earn an income from agriculture spurred me to approach Whisper. My family has a background in media and publishing, so working for Whisper seemed an ideal opportunity to combine my interests and experience.”

Adam adds that despite living on a large Herefordshire farm, having parents owning a small hill farm in Wales and being in a relationship with a Gloucestershire dairy farmer, he is effectively a new entrant into the sector.

“Working for Whisper allows me to be part of the industry,” he says. “In my spare time I try to work as much as possible between all three farms doing any job I can from driving tractors to milking cows, and we are about to launch a rose veal business.”

Away from agriculture, Adam is an avid rugby fan, enjoys film and music and spending time with his dog Nigel.
