HGCA communications assistant Gemma Pamment has joined the Guild hoping it will help improve her knowledge of the agricultural industry and the way it works.

“Before starting with HGCA, I had no formal experience of the agricultural industry,” she says. “I hope that being part of the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists will help my understanding of the industry and build on my experience working in communications.”

Gemma graduated from Cardiff University in 2011 after studying English language and communication. Work experience at a variety of PR companies helped her decide on completion of her course that working in communications was the right step onto the career ladder.

Working as a communications assistant at HGCA, Gemma helps support the communications team and relishes being part of a busy office. She is regularly able to work on a variety of different outputs such as events and newsletters.

“I really enjoy working in an industry that is relatively new to me; I’m learning new things all the time,” she says. “I have now worked at HGCA for more than a year and my understanding of agriculture has improved vastly.”

In her own time, Gemma enjoys going to the cinema to watch the latest releases, and in an effort to keep fit, has recently taken up swimming.
