Hayley Mace, publications editor at agricultural purchasing group Anglia Farmers (AF), has become a Member of the Guild.

Having worked as a senior reporter for a regional daily newspaper and as an account director at a PR agency, a move into the ever-changing world of agriculture has been an exciting development, she says.

“Moving into agricultural journalism has been a steep – and rapid – learning curve, but I’m really enjoying it,” says Hayley. “I enjoy writing and editing our wide range of publications and managing communications and marketing projects, including work on the EDGE Apprenticeships in Food & Farming.”

With five years of journalism, media and communications experience, she gained a PGDip in newspaper journalism in 2007 and worked at the Eastern Daily Press for nearly three years.

Hayley then joined PR agency Lexia Media, managing campaigns for clients including the Royal Norfolk Show, Suffolk Show and Norfolk Food & Drink Festival. She was shortlisted for the CIPR East Anglia Young Communicator of the Year Award in 2012.

Anglia Farmers is one of Britain’s largest farmer co-operatives; it orders in excess of 1.5 million litres of bulk fuel each week, accounts for more than 8% of the UK’s annual agrochemical spend, sources more than 450 vehicles each year and handles over 13,000 mobile phone accounts.

AF works with more than 1700 approved suppliers nationwide to source a wide range of products for its members and in 2012 introduced a peer-to-peer loans facility. Turnover increased by 11% in 2012 to £231 million.
