Megan Allen, who recently became a Member of the Guild, is based in Oakham, Rutland where she runs her own small PR firm.

Rural Roots PR specialises in creative communications and training for rural businesses,” she explains. “I’m passionate about promoting our rural areas, especially to people in my own age bracket.”

Megan started her career as a journalist at her local newspaper where she wrote a farming column reflecting on national issues. As a qualified senior reporter, she then moved to London for a year.

“But I didn’t like it and moved into communications instead, working for an agricultural education charity for four years before starting my own business earlier this year,” says Megan.

Services provided by Rural Roots PR cover press releases, social media and creative content for leaflets, mailshots, blogs and websites based on a carefully prepared communications plan designed to help clients understand their audience.

“In my free time, I love travelling in the UK and tend to stick to rural areas as I like to hike,” says Megan. “I’m also a huge fan of real ale, a tea addict and like to relax in my garden with a good book.”
