A new quarterly magazine from Shepherd Publishing has been launched in support of the Campaign for Wool, instigated by HRH The Prince of Wales and chaired by John Thorley, OBE.

Wool Producer, distributed widely throughout the UK sheep industry, has been very well received by sheep farmers up and down the country, according to Guild member Howard Venters, publisher at Shepherd.

“The purpose of the publication is to bring sheep farmers up to speed with the rapid progress of the Campaign for Wool and the effect it is already having on wool prices,” says Howard. “We are delighted with the response so far – the early issues have been very well supported by the industry, both editorially and commercially.

Eric Wilson CBE, present Master of the Woolmen’s London-based livery company and past chairman of the Farmers Club, is a director of the Campaign for Wool.

“This is a magnificent initiative from Shepherd,” he says. “It helps greatly in communicating the campaign’s work to a wide sheep-farming audience.”

The Campaign for Wool is an international effort with input from the UK, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. It aims to promote wool as a natural, sustainable and valuable product.

“We are very pleased to be part of the industry team effort to reverse the negative profile that wool has attracted in farming circles for so many years,” says Howard.
