New Guild member Rebecca Dawson, Ware Anthony Rust senior account manager, is relishing her role in the industry.

She said: “As the daughter of a vegetable plant breeder, it was inevitable I would end up working in the industry, however much I fought it when growing up.”

A BA (Hons) degree in equine studies at Warwickshire College kept the focus away from agriculture temporarily, but it wasn’t long before she took the opportunity to join the family business, Tozer Seeds, a Surrey-based vegetable breeding company.

After seven years in sales and then marketing, one business diploma and a MBA, it was time to move on and progress in marketing and PR.

She added: “I moved to Haymarket Media to work as marketing manager for the Cereals and Fruit Focus events, which was hugely enjoyable and gave me the opportunity to start building a network of useful contacts in the arable and fruit sectors, as well as hone my communications skills.

“In August 2013 I joined Ware Anthony Rust as a senior account manager in the food, farming and rural affairs team, working alongside fellow Guild members Peter Crowe and Geoff Dodgson. I’ve been fortunate to work on a range of agricultural client accounts, ranging from ag-chem manufacturers to agronomy providers, animal health companies and training organisations.

“The switch from in-house to agency has been great – I’m really enjoying getting involved in a wide variety of projects and I’ve met many fantastic people from across the industry.”

Outside of work Rebecca is a keen gardener and grow-your-owner, and in the last few years has started enjoying walking in the coutryside.

“The passion for walking has recently led to me taking over the organisational reins of my local under 40s Rambler’s group which keeps me incredibly busy but also quite fit and healthy,” she added.
