Changes on the livestock desk at Farmers Weekly have resulted in Rhian Price, a Member of the Guild, promoted to channel editor.

Rhian joined Reed Business Information in 2012 as a reporter for Poultry World. Two years later she moved to the Farmers Weeklylivestock desk as a reporter, and quickly rose to become deputy editor.

Rhian clearly proved her ability to manage the section when she stepped in to cover fellow Member Sarah Alderton’s maternity leave in 2016, and when Sarah left to go freelance earlier this year, Rhian was promoted to Livestock Editor.

“The editor’s job involves planning and editing copy for the section in Farmers Weekly, organising events alongside our projects team and producing copy for print and web,” explains Rhian. “I’m really looking forward to putting my stamp on the magazine in coming months with new series and features.

“I still love meeting farmers, writing features and being out on farm. It gives me a real buzz so I’m hoping to continue doing this in my role as editor as much as I can.”

Former colleague Sarah Alderton, meanwhile, has moved to a farm in Cumbria and is freelancing as Farmgate Media, mainly covering the Midlands, the North, and Scotland, and working on agriculture and food production with agri-businesses across the UK.

With more than 10 years’ experience in print, digital and social media, she offers PR and communications services – including press releases, sourcing case studies, creating media plans, producing videos and driving social media campaigns – and creative delivery of events.
