Guild member Robert Jeffery, a consultant who wrote articles on smallholding management and related issues, died mid-September.

He was a regular feature writer in SmallholderHome Farmer and occasionally in NFU Countryside, and was co-author of the pocket guide Getting Started in Smallholding, which he published with David Morris, a fellow director of NewLandOwner Management Services.

This smallholder’s consultancy was formed in 2000 to provide advice to individuals who often have very little or no experience in agriculture or rural living, and who want to start a smallholding, farm, or own some land, and appreciate the value of expert guidance.

Fellow Guild member Janice Houghton Wallace commented: “He was a lovely man who always gave encouragement to those who showed an interest in smallholding and horticulture.”
