Support for the RSPB’s 2011 Nature of Farming Award comes from The Telegraph in addition to the organisations Butterfly Conservation and Plantlife International. The competition is also supported by the European Union’s Life+ Programme, a financial instrument supporting environmental and nature conservation projects throughout the EU.

First presented in 2010 to a farming family in Northern Ireland, the award highlights the efforts of UK farmers dedicated to wildlife-friendly farming.

With its “excellent coverage of rural affairs and the environment”, says the RSPB, “The Telegraph is ideally placed to raise the profile of the award  winners whose hard work is helping bring the life back to the British countryside.”

The newspaper’s sponsorship coincides with the introduction of a Commendation award, which will be presented to farmers who have shown a true dedication to the wildlife on their farm.

Full details are available from the organisation’s media officer Nik Shelton.
