Guild member Carol McLaren is leaving her post as director of marketing and communications at Quality Meat Scotland to take up a new role at Glenalmond College.

Carol (pictured above) will become director of marketing and communications at the college, where she will educate her children.

“I have had a fantastic decade with Quality Meat Scotland – it is an awesome organisation and I am incredibly proud to have worked here,” she said.

“I am incredibly proud of the red meat industry too – of our farmers and everyone who works in it and what we achieve together.”

Carol said she had spent the past week filming on farms for a forthcoming QMS Meat with Integrity campaign which will promote red meat and livestock farming.

“It is so important that we get the message out about the sustainability of our industry, particularly about high animal welfare standards,” she added.

“It is vital that consumers understand the fantastic credentials we have on animal welfare and our quality assurance schemes.”

QMS chief executive Alan Clarke paid tribute to Carol during a breakfast meeting attended by industry leaders at the Royal Highland Show on Thursday, 20 June.

“For the past decade, you have done a sterling job for the red meat industry in Scotland,” said Alan. “We will miss you and wish you every success.”
