Farmers Weekly has appointed BGAJ member Andrew Meredith as its new editor.

Andrew, who has worked at the title since October 2016, takes over from Karl Schneider who has been in the post since 2014. Karl announced his retirement last month.

Andrew said: “I am thrilled to be taking up this post and I am looking forward to working hard on behalf of British farmers.
“I come from a farming background and Farmers Weekly has always been part of the fabric of our farming life for as long as I can remember.

“It is a huge job and a huge responsibility but I am looking forward to getting started.”

Andrew graduated from Aberystwyth University in 2011 with a degree in agriculture before going to work on his parents’ beef and sheep farm in mid Wales on the English/Welsh border.

He started working at Farmers Weekly as an arable reporter before being promoted to deputy business editor in 2018.

Earlier this year Farmers Weekly, established in 1934, was sold to Mark Allen Group from Reed Business Information (RBI).
