Following an enforced break due to covid, the BGAJ’s inititative with JustFarmers.org to try and raise the profile of farming in the mainstream press is due to take place in July.

With food security, trade and the environment high on the new agenda, Guild members are regularly asked to be interviewed on hot topics affecting farming. Some are very expeirenced and comfortable taking part in these requests but want to improve their techniques, while others need formal training on how to handle and answer questions.

Working with JustFarmers – owned and run by Guild members and freeland journalist Anna Jones – applicants were sought from all over the UK and across the full range of agricultural and horticultural sectors, as well as people who have experience in key issues like agri-politics, the environment and economics.

Five Guild members will take part in the first JustFarmers training in July. Their names will then be added to the JustFarmers database so they can be found by national journalists looking for industry experts who can be interviewed.
