The ‘Control of Worms Sustainably’ (COWS) group has appointed Guild Member Sara Gregson to carry out knowledge transfer co-ordination and delivery to farmers, advisors and vets.

The COWS initiative is an industry-led steering group, which started in 2010.

It aims to provide the best available, evidence-based information to people working with cattle in relation to the sustainable control of parasites, including gut worms, lung worms and liver fluke.

“Sara joins us at an exciting time for COWS as we look to develop the impact of our activities and resources across the UK,” says NFU animal health and welfare adviser Rebecca Veale, who sits on the COWS group.

“We are redesigning our website and want to bring more life into our communications in the form of farmer case studies and video.

“Having Sara as our communications lynchpin will be crucial to being able to achieve this.”

Sara has run her own marketing communications business within agriculture for the past 22 years and specialises in livestock and grassland management.

She was editor of the British Grassland Society (BGS) magazine Grass and Forage Farmer for 11 years and was awarded a Nuffield Scholarship in 2006 to study grassland farming around the world.

Sara is also director for communications at the Pasture-Fed Livestock Association.
