Every journalist has a story they’re proud of; that one article, photo, or broadcast that truly made an impact. Now, it’s time to share it with the world.

The IFAJ Star Prize 2025 is your chance to have your work recognized among the best agricultural journalism worldwide. Whether you bring stories to life through words, images, or sound, this competition celebrates the passion, skill, and dedication that drive our industry.

Winning an IFAJ Star Prize isn’t just about a trophy. It’s about being seen, heard, and appreciated for your work.

What IFAJ are looking for

All entries will be judged on storytelling and impact within these themes:

Innovation: Reporting on fresh ideas and creative approaches in agriculture.
Sustainability: Stories on environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
Technology: How tools and advancements are shaping the industry.
Trade, Economics or Global Issues: The business and financial side of agriculture.
Rural Culture: Bringing traditions and communities to life.

Award categories

In addition to the thematic judging, awards will be given for excellence in each journalism format:

  • Best Print Article
  • Best Photo
  • Best Audio Broadcast
  • Best Video Broadcast
  • Best Digital Media Production

Star Prize Journalist of the Year

In addition to category winners, one journalist will receive the highest honour: IFAJ Star Prize Journalist of the Year, recognizing outstanding work, impact, and dedication to agricultural journalism.

How to Enter

The competition is open to members of IFAJ guilds in good standing. Each participant may submit up to two entries in total, with a maximum of one entry per category.

Entries must have been published in 2024 and can be in English or translated (translations must be provided by the entrant).

 

Deadline: June 15, 2025 – No late or incomplete entries will be accepted!
