Entries are open for the Guild’s 2018 Perkins Power on the Farm Award – with a total prize fund of £3750 shared between the winner and runners up.
The award, which recognises power on the farm in all its forms, has a first prize of £2000, with further prizes of £1000, £500 and £250 for second, third and fourth place respectively.
Perkins has worked hand-in-hand with the Guild for more than 40 years – so much so that its annual Power on the Farm Award is now a highlight of the Guild’s event calendar.
How to enter
A full entry form is available by clicking here. Judges are looking for articles written and published in 2017. It’s as simple as that.
The subject of ‘power’ on the farm should be considered in its widest sense, therefore entries are not confined to stories about machinery.
To enter, email a scanned copy of your published article to poweronthefarm@perkins.com – including a sentence or two about its purpose.
Entries should include:
• Name of entrant (author)
• Name and date of publication the entry featured in
• Contact telephone number
• What was the purpose of the article?
You can then sit back and wait to hear if you have won.

Prizes
The 2018 Perkins Power on the Farm Award offers the following prizes:
• £2000 – First Prize
• £1000 – Second Prize
• £500 – Third Prize

Aside from being in with a chance of winning one of four cash prizes, you’ll be treated to a spectacular day in London, including a memorable experience and sumptuous lunch.
Over the last few years our award winners have dined at the likes of The Ivy, The Mayfair and The Ritz.
They have also enjoyed a high speed boat ride on the Thames, made pasta and Chinese food with some of the city’s best chefs and spent quality time with Countryfile co-host Adam Henson.
Terms of entry
Entries must have been published in the UK between January 1 and December 31, 2017.

Submissions can be made by the author or a third party. Only one entry per person.
The competition is not open to first prize winners of the past three years. The competition is still open however to runners up.
Closing date for entries is 25 May 2018.
Winners will be announced on 26 June 2018. All entrants must be available to attend the awards celebration in London on Thursday 26 July 2018.
