Entries are open for the 2019 IFAJ-Alltech International Award for Leadership in Agricultural Journalism.

Alltech founder Pearse Lyons was an inspirational leader and communicator, who loved talking to journalists and admired their ability to tell stories, especially stories about agriculture.

He also understood the importance of mentorship and education in his own life, and was always a strong supporter of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ), especially the young leader programme.

In honour of Dr. Lyons and his love of journalism, Alltech has introduced the IFAJ-Alltech International Award for Leadership in Agricultural Journalism.

British Guild members are eligible to enter the award, which recognises and rewards excellence and leadership by a young journalist.

The award will be presented at this year’s ONE: The Alltech Ideas Conference (ONE19) in Lexington, USA.

  • Candidates are to submit their entries via an application form to the global IFAJ office.
  • The global office will forward them to the executive member of the Guild
  • Each Guild can nominate one candidate
  • The deadline for nominations is 15 March, 2019.

The winning young journalist, age 40 or younger by 31 December, 2019 will be selected by an international committee based on their professional skill, achievements and leadership within their Guild.

The successful nominee will receive a travel stipend and registration to attend ONE19 on 19-21 May 2019 in Lexington, Kentucky, USA.
