An important setting for the Guild’s online Farming Media Centre membership directory has now been reinstated after it was accidentally deleted.
During the transition to the new website, the default setting to display details of the professional interests of Members and Friends was removed.
This has now been put right, so search for your own name or the name of another Member or Friend on the Farming Media Centre and these details should appear.
Basic details – name and employer/freelance status – are displayed by default.
But if you would like these details hidden from public view, please login in to the website, open the Business section of your profile and uncheck the FMC tick box.
Retired and Honorary Members of the Guild are not included in the Farming Media Centre, which is intended for active communication professional in rural industries.
It provides a showcase for Members and Friends, especially for those providing services through an agency or in a freelance capacity.
Although there is an ‘anonymous’ email contact facility, if you are happy for telephone numbers and an email address to be displayed, then please login to the Guild website and select the appropriate tick boxes in the Business section of the profile.
A portrait photo can be added in the Personal section and additional information is displayed when the Farming Media Section of the membership profile is completed.
There is a drop-down ‘region’ menu and tick boxes for selecting journalist, photographer, PR professional or expert, and for any particular areas of expertise – such as livestock, arable crops, machinery, and so on.
All new Members and Friends of the Guild should complete this section as it not completed as part of the online membership application process.
If anyone has difficulty logging in or completing any section of their profile, please contact membership administrator Peter Hill at email@example.com.
