Guild member Philip Case, currently arable reporter on Farmers Weekly, has been promoted by Reed Business Information to deputy news editor on the publication and its fwi.co.uk website.

“I’m really excited about joining the news team and furthering my career with RBI,” he says. “I’m looking forward to the many opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.”

Philip comes from Lancashire where he worked on farms during his teenage years. He joined Farmers Weekly in January 2010, working as part of the arable team and contributing to Crops, the specialist title providing technical coverage of the arable sector.

“Before moving into farming media, I worked as a reporter in local press and for the INS News Agency, contributing stories to national newspapers,” says Philip. “I then spent three years working in London as a freelance news and showbiz reporter for The Sunday Mirror, The Sun and the Daily Mail’s website, Mail Online.”

In his new role on Farmers Weekly, Philip will be producing content for the magazine, co-ordinating and writing content for fwi.co.uk, and extending its social media reach through blogging, Twitter and forums.
