A 3700-mile cycle relay involving 80 companies from the grain and feed trade aims to raise £100,000 for the Farming Community Network.

Starting outside the Houses of Parliament on 20 June, the relay will visit 171 feed and grain sites and port terminals across the UK before finishing at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, on 31 July.

Guild Member Phil Eades, who is co-ordinating PR for the organisers, says the ride offers some great opportunities for coverage and exposure.

“For companies involved in the event there are opportunities to promote involvement to customers and the local community via the press, websites, customer communications and social media,” he says.

“We are already working with some participants on developing coverage in newsletters and on websites.”

As the relay progresses round the country there will be some photo opportunities when the riders visit sites – and the chance for local press to highlight the work of FCN.

“For companies not directly involved but who want to contribute there are a number of sponsorship opportunities still available,” says Phil.

“The £100,000 will be a huge contribution to the annual running costs of the FCN and the invaluable work they will do so I hope Guild Members will do what they can to help promote the relay.”
