Getting on farms and meeting people in the agricultural industry are two attractions of working for a rural PR agency, says Lauren Goringe, a new Member of the Guild.
“I work for Reverberate PR, the specialist agriculture and food communications agency run by Guild member, Philip Gibson,” says Lauren. “At Reverberate we work with a wide range of clients from individual farm businesses through to multi-national manufacturers and retailers.
“Since starting at Reverberate in 2011 I’ve been lucky enough to work with a broad range of clients; but my favourite parts of the job are writing articles and getting out on farms, where I have met lots of lovely people.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, given that Lauren lives in West Dorset, she has a particular interest in the dairy sector: “Although we are slowly expanding our own Poll Dorset flock at home, which is testing my ovine knowledge!,” she says.
Before moving to the agency, which is based near Honiton, Devon, Lauren worked for Duffield’s Animal Feeds and during her time in education earned a BA Hons degree in Language & Communciation from Cardiff University. Last year, Lauren completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations with the CIPR.
“Although sadly now too old to be a member, I am still involved in our local Young Farmer’s Club as a Club Leader,” she adds. “I also enjoy cooking, walking and being on the Board of Governors at my local primary school.”
