Guild's 2019 IAgrE Award opens for entries

A £1000 prize fund for the best articles or broadcasts highlighting the vital role of engineering in modern food and energy production is now open for entries.

The Guild's IAgrE Award is generously sponsored by the Institution of Agricultural Engineers – the professional body for engineers, scientists, technologists and managers in the land-based sector.

The award is open to articles or broadcasts by Guild Members covering topics in the agriculture, horticulture, forestry, amenity or rural environment sectors.

Entries are limited to one per Member reporting on engineering – in all its forms – published between March 1, 2018 and February 28, 2019.

The overall winner will receive a commemorative plaque and £750. The runner-up will receive a commemorative plaque and £250.

Awards will be presented at the Guild’s Bangers 'n' Beer reception at the end of the first day of this year's Cereals event, due to be held at Boothby Graffoe in Lincolnshire on 12-13 June.

A high calibre of entries was received for the 2018 IAgrE Award.

Winner of the 2017 award was Adam Clarke for his article exploring the potential of direct injection spraying systems, published in Future Farming magazine.

Runner-up was Geoff Ashcroft for his Farmers Guardian feature on the retro fitting of auto-steering systems to older tractors.

To enter the Guild's IAgrE Award, email one scanned copy of a published article to IAgrE press officer and award administrator Marion King no later than Friday, 10 May, 2019.
