Members of the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists gathered on Wednesday for a lively press reception at Groundswell 2025, where sunshine, regenerative farming and a royal appearance set the tone for a memorable afternoon.
Held in the heart of the Groundswell site in Hertfordshire, the social offered Guild members the chance to unwind, network and hear from host farmer Alex Cherry who welcomed journalists, photographers and communicators, sharing insights into the ethos behind event and the growing momentum behind the regenerative movement.
Adding a spirited twist to proceedings was Hannah Groom of Fielden Whisky, a regenerative brand with deep roots in sustainable farming. Hannah spoke about the brand’s commitment to restoring soil health and biodiversity through its farming and distilling practices. Guild members were treated to a selection of whisky cocktails, showcasing the unique flavours from Fielden’s sustainably-grown rye.
With conversation flowing and the sun shining, the press reception provided a relaxed yet inspiring close to a packed day at one of the UK’s most innovative agricultural events.
Earlier, attendees were struck by the arrival of HRH Prince William, who toured the site to learn more about regenerative agriculture and the work of pioneering UK farmers.
Guild Chair Ben Pike said:
“The event gatherings we organise are so important to members, providing an opportunity to catch up with friends and network with new contacts.
“This year it was great to be able to offer some fantastic food and delicious drinks to members after a long day covering the dozens of sessions laid on by the Groundswell team.
“Huge thanks goes to the Cherry family for kindly hosting our members and laying on food and drink for them, and also to Fielden who gave us a fascinating insight into its product, brought to life through the cocktails!
“I also want to express our gratitude to the Jane Craigie Marketing team for organising the event, and to Sponsorship Secretary Andy Newbold for arranging the collaboration with Fielden.”
