Bridget Johnson believes becoming a Member of the Guild is a natural step as she forges a career in PR with the marketing team at Bidwells, the property consultancy, where Ian Ashbrdge, a Friend of the Guild, is an associate in the farm management and agribusiness department.

Having grown up in rural Wiltshire, Bridget is a PR executive looking to drive forward opportunities within the rural, residential and commercial divisions of Bidwells.

A photography graduate who went on to work in property, she believes it is an exciting time to be involved in agriculture.

“Since joining Bidwells in March 2012 I have learnt so much,” she says. “Agriculture is a vibrant and exciting sector which is constantly evolving. My working day is always interesting, hearing about new projects and issues – anything from solar farms to CAP reform.

“I’ve been very fortunate to have been involved with great events including the Oxford Farming Conference and Cereals Event, where I met other members for the first time during the Guild reception.

“Currently, I am proud to be working on the recently launched Norfolk Scholar initiative with the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association, which enables two people aged between 18-35 who live, work and/or study in Norfolk to attend the Oxford Farming Conference.”

Bridget has no farming up bringing but her boyfriend’s farming family has introduced her to it, and the job is helping too: “I now know what they are talking about around the dinner table!,” says Bridget.

Outside of work, she is keen on sports: “I attend Parkfit, which is military fitness, and I’m also a keen runner and will be joining Cambridge south hockey team this season. When I’m not playing sport I love food and eating out with friends.”
