The Guild’s Photography Awards are now open for entries from members who are either full-time professional photographers or who take photographs as part of their work.

Images can also be nominated by editors/clients on behalf of a member.

The awards, kindly sponsored by Reverberate PR, recognise excellence in the composition, content and technical aspects of photographing agricultural and other rural subjects.

There are three categories: Livestock, Arable and Environment/Sustainability.

The Environment/Sustainability category is new for 2021 and entries can capture a range of subjects, from on-farm wildflower margins to wildlife habitats, renewable energy schemes or regenerative farming.

Reverberate PR managing director Phil Gibson, whose firm made a commitment to achieving net zero by 2030 earlier this year, said: “Photography is a key ingredient in creating engaging content and visually reinforcing brands and we are pleased to support this Guild award to recognise the great work being done by members.

“Sustainability is something that is increasingly at the core of all agricultural business activity and so, as well as the traditional livestock and arable categories, we are pleased to acknowledge the growing importance of this subject with the launch of a new category this year.”

Members can enter one image per category.

A panel of three judges will select a winner and runner-up for each category, with prize money of £500 paid to each winner and £250 to each runner-up.

What the judges looking for?

Impact and storytelling, creativity and style, composition, correct use of light and colour balance. The image should show technical excellence – posing, lighting, composition, ISO choice, lens choice and exposure should all be considered.
