SLR vs smartphone: getting the best results from your camera

Published on 6th September 2021

Fast moving technology has seen a spate of smartphones emerge with high tech cameras, but do they have the edge over your SLR camera?

In the Guild's first in-person training session since before the pandemic, professional photo journalist and BGAJ member Ruth Downing will address the following:

  • Modus operandi between SLR and smartphone camera, and differences in results
  • Some practical stuff: Ruth will take four different scenarios e.g. headshot, landscape, indoors, moving object, and explain which is the preferred medium for achieving best results in each scenario - SLR (on auto) or smartphone
  • Wrapping up: is it worth investing in an SLR or alternatively, paying more for a top of the range smartphone?

Please bring along your SLR and or smartphone.

Cost: £41.80 (inc Eventbrite booking fee)

Location: Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire CV8 2LG; exact venue TBC

When: Tues 26 October 2021 10am - 1pm
