Freelance photographer Tim Scrivener won the Guild’s 2015 Arable Photography Award, sponsored by DuPont Agriculture.

Judges described his winning photo – of harvesting barley in Lincolnshire – as nicely framed and well shot, with good depth of field and attention to exposure.

They said Tim’s photo encapsulated the typical British harvest – with the going down of the sun signalling the start of another shift for as long as the weather holds.

The photo was published as a Farmers Weekly front cover in July 2014.

Chris McCullough was runner-up. Judges said his photo of a combine harvester unloading grain into a trailer was well-balanced for light and composition, with a wonderful use of parallel use of parallel lines drawing the eye to the frozen movement of the grain.

They described it as a neat competition and frame-filling subject.

Coming a very close second, Chris’s photo was published in Farm Week in July 2014.
