Oli Hill, a new journalist Member of the Guild, is the 22-year old son of a sheep and rare breed cattle farmer in Somerset. He was appointed to the arable desk at Farmers Weekly earlier this year.

“I now cover all things arable farming related in print and online, producing news stories, in-depth features, video and digital content for the fwi.co.uk website,” notes Oli. “Engaging with our readers and the wider farming community on social media is another of my roles as an arable reporter.”

Oli graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in Multimedia Journalism last year and has NCTJ qualifications. Fresh out of university he became a trainee reporter at the Somerset County Gazette series, mainly working on the Bridgwater Mercury and Burnham & Highbridge Weekly Newspublications and websites.

“In April this year, I left the world of local news to join Farmers Weekly and six months into the role I am particularly interested in the issue of soil health and enjoy capturing stories through video, photographs and the written word,” says Oli.

Outside of work he includes film and music among his interests, as well as liking cars and motor racing – Formula 1 in particular.

Oli can be contacted through the Guild’s new Farming Media Centre.
