After 27 years and 319 editions, Chris Biddle, a Member of the Guild, has produced his last issue as editor of Service Dealer, the bi-monthly machinery dealer magazine he founded in 1988.

The title was acquired earlier this year by The Ad Plain, the Oxfordshire-based business that redesigned and has published the magazine for Chris over the past two years. Deputy editor Steve Gibbs moves into the editor’s chair and he will be supported by Martin Rickatson, machinery freelance and a Member of the Guild, as features writer.

Until Christmas, Chris will continue editing the weekly machinery trade newsletter delivered each Friday at noon, and will then contribute a regular personal view on a topic pertinent to farm, groundscare and garden machinery distribution.

On stepping down from Service Dealer, Chris said: “It’s a moment tinged with slight sadness, obviously, but overwhelmingly with pleasure and pride at having established what is today regarded as the industry’s ‘bible’ – a description often used by readers.”
