Congratulations – and Good Luck! – to the farming and countryside publications that feature in this year’s shortlist for two national awards being presented in June by the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) and the Association of Online Publishers (AOP).

Guild member Jack Davies (pictured), who earlier this year became head of digital content on Farmers Guardian, points out that in the PPA awards there are five nominations between Farmers Guardian and Farmers Weekly alone, with FG being shortlisted in both of the categories it entered.

“I think it’s a triumph for the agricultural press to be represented in so many categories on the shortlist for the UK’s biggest publishing awards,” he says.

The websites FarmersGuardian.com and Farmers Weekly Interactive go head-to-head in the business media digital product of the year category, while Farmers Guardian’s campaign Backing Britain’s Professional Farmers is up for an award in competition with Country Living’s Your Countryside Needs You!

Country Living and Country File are shortlisted for the specialist consumer magazine award, while Farmers Weekly is in with a chance of taking the business media brand and business media designer awards.

Farmers Guardian has also reached the final judging stage of the Association of Online Publishers awards. The editorial hopes for success in the Cross-Media Project category for coverage of the National YFC annual meeting and in the Website class. Jack Davies himself is nominated for the Digital Editorial Individual title.

Fingers crossed!
