The winner of the Guild’s new entrant training course prize in 2009 – Janine Heath –became a member of the Guild earlier this year in her role as video journalist at Harper Adams University College in Shropshire.
“My job involves creating news videos and converting these into press releases for the Harper Adams website,” she explains. “I also run a YouTube channel, which I enjoy, and manage a Twitter account, while also liaising with other journalists.”
Janine, who was born in Endon, Staffordshire, also spent 10 months as acting communications manager at Harper Adams while covering for a colleague’s maternity leave.
“Writing about agriculture and related issues seems completely natural to me,” says Janine. “Meeting young people every day who are about to enter the industry makes it even more worthwhile.”
The 24-year-old lists her interests as music, playing the violin, photography and cycling.
