A Chicago-based media company has bought the ‘Site’ series of news and information websites from the UK’s 5M Publishing, currently a Benchmark Holdings company.

The portfolio now published under the Global Ag Media brand covers the poultry, pig, cattle, dairy, beef, meat and crop sectors, including two Spanish versions.

The series originated with The Pig Site and The Poultry Site established in 1999/2000, with their readership and usage said to have been growing steadily in recent years.

Many of the acquired sites are described as the “go-to” source of information in their respective sectors.

Sarah Mikesell of Global Ag Media, said: “We are eager to build on the newly designed platforms for The Pig Site and The Poultry Site and we see significant growth and development opportunities for The Cattle Site and the Spanish language sites, with plans underway to advance news and content as well as marketing options for sponsors.”

Nigel Balmforth, Head of Publishing within Benchmark’s Knowledge Services Division added: “We are delighted that the websites have moved to Global Ag Media, who will facilitate the further evolution of the sites, while maintaining their industry-leading position of providing independent news and features of cutting-edge importance for global agriculture.”
