Find good talkers with no hidden agenda

Guild member Anna Jones created Just Farmers in 2018 to help colleagues in the media find independent farmer case studies for on-the-record interviews and background research chats.

Her view was that it’s not always easy for programme makers or journalists to find good talkers without a hidden agenda, and negotiating access onto farms can be tricky.

The aim is to connect the media with knowledgeable, independent voices across British agriculture.

Anna is now looking to grow the organisation by adding more farmer spokespeople and registered media outlets.

“Just Farmers is not-for-profit and non-political,” Anna said. “It does not lobby or speak on behalf of the wider industry, it just creates a network of farmers willing to share their experiences, and answer questions.

“By registering with Just Farmers the user can access the contact details of a wide range of independent farmers, for free. They are all happy to be contacted directly by members of the media.”

For the media to sign up all that is required is a few details about each person and the news organisation, publication, programme, or website that they work for the account to be verified. To sign up click here.
