An upcoming webinar organised by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) will welcome Guild members to hear Caroline Drummond MBE, Chief Executive of LEAF, in conversation with IFAJ member Jane Craigie.

‘Leadership in Focus’ will take place at 12 pm GMT on 16th July via Zoom and will be hosted by Jane Craigie, an active member of the IFAJ Executive, an agrifood communicator and founder of the Rural Youth Project, which is focused on developing the leadership and enterprise skills of young rural people worldwide.

Special guest Caroline Drummond MBE is an agricultural graduate who has been leading sustainable food and farming charity, LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming), in the UK for over 30 years since it was founded in 1991.

LEAF’s mission is to inspire and enable more circular approaches to farming and food systems through integrated, regenerative and vibrant nature-based solutions, that deliver productivity and prosperity among farmers, enrich the environment, and positively engage young people and wider society. LEAF has a network of demonstration farms and a global assurance system called LEAF Marque, and it operates the iconic LEAF Open Farm Sunday event as part of its role in consumer outreach and education.

Caroline is an exceptional leader and has built her organisation from small beginnings to one with global influence and huge impact, despite its small team and limited budgets. Her journey is one of personal growth, leadership development and juggling work, life and family. Caroline has also grown the charity during an era when sustainable food and farming was arguably given cursory interest in the early 1990s to become central to the sector’s future. Caroline lives with her husband and her daughter on the family’s dairy farm in Cornwall, south west England.
