Evegate Publishing – publisher of the regional monthly South East Farmer – has been acquired by Kelsey Media to add to its existing portfolio of farming titles.

The purchase includes South East Farmer supplement South East Machinery, also distributed in south-east England; and national magazine Vineyard, for viticulturalists across Great Britain.

It follows a decision by Evegate founder Clive Rabson to retire after a career in publishing.

“I know that Kelsey Media is passionate about publishing and is the perfect new home for our well-respected brands,” he said.

“I wish all the staff the very best for the future.”

The Kelsey Media group has offices in Kent and Cambridgeshire and publishes more than 65 titles.

They include machinery technical magazine Profi International – plus Tractor & Machinery, Classic Massey & Ferguson, Ford & Fordson Tractors, and Tractor & Farming Heritage.

It also has two smallholder titles – Practical Pigs and Practical Poultry – and organises the Tractor World classic and vintage machinery event.

Steve Wright, chief executive of Kelsey Media, added: “We are delighted to welcome these brands and their staff to our business.

“Acquiring these magazines and associated activities is an important part of our strategy to focus on our core strengths.”
